SEGA and SI Games have today released DLC for their Football Manager series for the first time ever. Available now on the Android version and accessed through the “Store” option in the game, new challenges priced at 69p each extend on the content that was introduced to the series for the first time this year, and which has seen good reviews and feedback from gamers and media alike.

“Since the introduction of the Challenge Mode, we’ve had a lot of positive feedback from players, many of whom asked for more of the same.” says Miles Jacobson, Studio Director of Sports Interactive. “The introduction of these extra Challenges allows us not only to address this demand but also to gauge our customers’ appetite for extra, optional content of this type.”

iOS players will receive the update soon which will allow access to the new shop, and in turn the new DLC challenges.

For the first time in the history of the best-selling series, Football Manager™ players will have access to a choice of extra gameplay options as premium downloadable content (DLC) is introduced to the latest update for Football Manager Handheld™ 2012.

Players of the Android version of the game who install the newly-released update (along with those who purchase the game from this point forwards) will have access to two extra, optional Challenges; ‘Austerity Measures’ and ‘You Can’t Win Anything With Kids’. These same Challenges will also be added to the iOS version through a soon-to-be-released update.

Football Manager Handheld’s Challenge Mode was first introduced in the 2012 release, when users were presented with four specific Challenges in addition to the ongoing management simulation. These initial Challenges – ‘The Saviour Cometh’, ‘Injury Crisis’, ‘Unrest at Home’ and ‘The Invincibles’ – added a new dimension to the gameplay which has proved popular with FM fans.

The additional Challenges are priced at 69p each and are accessible through the newly-added ‘Store’ button on the game’s home screen.

To coincide with the release of this update, all versions of Football Manager are currently available at reduced prices. Football Manager 2012 for PC and Macintosh® is available via Steam® at a reduction of 40 per cent, while both versions of Football Manager Handheld are currently priced at £2.99 (down from £6.99). These short-term price reductions will remain in place until July 23rd.
