Xbox Live subscription changes
We would have posted this news yesterday, but didn’t want to spoil your bank holiday!
Yesterday via the blog of Major Nelson, Microsoft revealed a new pricing structure for Xbox Live in the US, UK, Canada and Mexico. And the good news is for us in the UK, the new price won’t affect us as much as the other regions, unless you pay for your subscription on a monthly basis.
From the 1st November, the 1 month of Gold will go up a £1 from £4.99 to £5.99. In the US prices have gone up quite a bit, with their one month subscription going from $7.99 to $9.99, the 3 month jumping from $19.99 to $24.99 and the 12 month rising by 10 dollars from $49.99 to $59.99.
So it seems the UK has got off lightly, but how long until the yearly subscription rises in line with our American cousins? I’m expecting the price rise in the US to be a testing of the water if you like, and fully expect the UK to see a similar price rise within the next year. I’ll be quite happy to be proven wrong however.
