Feature: February summary
It’s the shortest month of the year, but that doesn’t mean it hasn’t been busy here at Gamedot. New games, news reporting, bit of free time playing more games. But what games have our writers mainly been playing during February and what are they looking forward to getting their hands on during March?
Liam – It’s no shock that Bioshock 2 was my most played game. A fantastic game which I’ve completed on hard. But I’ll be having at least one more run through and I still haven’t touched the online mode yet.
Scott – Last months gaming saw the return of Griff Almighty to the world of Rapture and while the experience was great there felt like something was missing, the feel of the character did not feel any different from the protagonist in the first game which diluted the experience somewhat. Bioware, would you kindly make a third?
Adam – Well this month I’ve been replaying Demon’s Souls quite a bit. While this isn’t out in the EU due to a lack of a publisher, its one of the finest games out there. Imagine Diablo 3 from a WoW perspective. Finally I’ve obviously been playing Heavy Rain for review and leisure purposes. I’ve always liked David Cages games but Fahrenheit, the Daddy of Heavy Rain is clearly what could happen when he’s let loose.
And what are we looking forward to during March?
Liam – A surprise choice from me I reckon most of you will believe. It’s not Final Fantasy or Bad Company 2. For me my most anticipated game of March (as long as it still gets a March release) is Rugby League 3. Simply because I’m a mad rugby league fan and I’m very interested to see how this plays out on the Wii using its motion control.
Scott – This month I have bought a PS3 for the second time, purely for Heavy Rain. 2 hours in and at times I have felt like crying with joy, sorrow, angst and grief. I’m pretty sure being a father myself goes a long way in getting emotionally involved and whilst draining, I’m excited to see how the next 6-8 hours pan out.
Adam – I have a feeling there’s a few usual suspects rearing their heads, such as God of War III, Final Fantasy XIII and a few more to boot. However I like playing stuff I don’t know about too much about, but then that’s mainly from not looking at certain content too much. While a weak choice considering the triple AAA month March is bound to be, Dragon Age: Awakening has my eye simply because if you completed Origins, you knew how good the story was and if you’ve seen the trailer for the expansion and that awesome dragon, it’s worth the price of admission. If I was allowed a quirk pick I’d go for Prison Break the conspiracy though, but I have a feeling it maybe your typical ‘movie game’ sadly. I just hope Scott and other gamers aren’t disappointed by the highly criticised linearity of Final Fantasy XIII when that hits March 9th.
