“Adult” games in Auz?
Let’s be honest, Australia has long been a running joke when it comes to the classification of games. The country currently doesn’t have a classification for games deemed to contain adult material, an 18 rated game if you will here in the UK.
This has caused a large amount of unrest down under over the years, most recently with Left 4 Dead 2 getting heavily edited and it also looked like SEGAs Aliens vs Predator wouldn’t see the light of day, until the classification board finally saw sense and reclassified the game for release.
But all of that might be about to change with the government coming under increasing pressure from consumers and retailers, to allow the sale of 18+ games.
If it does happen, common sense will have last prevailed and it will be down to the Aussie gamer to decide whether or not they wish to see blood and guts fly across their screen and not the government.
