Playstation Mag reveals GT5 details

This months Official Playstation Magazine will contain an extensive article on Gran Turismo 5 according to a report over at VirtualR.net.

According to the report, the article will state the full game will include over 1000 cars, the NASCAR Sprint Cup, World Rally Championship and Indycar Series will feature in the game, as well as night racing with full weather effects.

Other details released include cars will have both exterior and interior damage, but no mention on whether this will affect how the car performs. The game will also run in 1080p at 60fps which according to Polyphony Digital will max out the ability of the PS3. One other main detail is the online mode will support up to 16 players at a time.

If these details are correct then GT5 really does sound promising. There is a demo over on the PSN right now which doubles up as this years GT Academy.

Having played the demo and Prologue there is no denying that it does indeed look stunning. But for me it still doesn’t quite feel right in the way it controls and the sounds just don’t cut it for me either. The less said about the “damage” in the game the better.

Of course that might have something to do with the amount of Forza I’ve played, but it still feels more of an arcade game than a sim compared to Forza 3. We’ll have to wait until the full game is released though and we’ve had some proper hands on time with it.
